FAO Agriculture and Food Week in Buenos Aires


B20 was present at the FAO Agriculture week in Buenos Aires on November 20th

The FAO Agriculture and Food Week focused on “Future Challenges for Latin America and the Caribbean” and was organized by the Secretary of Agroindustry and the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

B20 Chair and COPAL President Daniel Funes de Rioja particpated in the session on “The technological challenges and trends in innovation for the food and drinks industry”. He focused on technological innovation, the digitalization of the economy, process simplification, the empowerment of SMEs, the fight against malnutrition and the reduction of food waste.

“The Sustainable Food System Task Force worked to present concrete recommendations that would contribute to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations” said Daniel Funes de Rioja.

Cecilia Rena (B20 Sustainable Food System Deputy Chair and Public Affairs and Press Relations Corporate Manager at Arcor) participated in the panel on “A Sustainable Food Future: Public-private dialogue in the context of the G20”. Other participants included Martin Piñeiro (Director, Agricultural Affairs Committee, Argentine Council of International Relations), Carla Bonito (Executive Director at COPAL), Ricardo Rapallo (Specialist in Food Security, FAO), Santiago del Solar (Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Agroindustry) and Cecilia Vilariño (Climate & Energy Manager at CEADS).

The private sector plays an active and essential role in the construction of a sustainable food system and the 2030 agenda. This task force was committed to each of the recommendations presented,“ said Cecilia Rena.
